For her entire life, Alexandra Kramer has been checking a series of boxes. Trapped by the expectations of everyone else around her, she’s made good grades, married the right guy, and secured a place at the prestigious Harvard Business School.

But in the chaos of the 2008 financial crisis, Alex suddenly finds herself running into the fire, instead of seeking a safe haven from the flames. Ditching her Ivy League plans, she becomes dedicated to showing she has what it takes in the high-stakes, fast-paced boys’ club of Wall Street trading, as she forges her own path for the first time in her life.

As these volatile changes drive her husband Jamie into his own crisis, Alex is forced to examine the choices she’s made—as she’s torn between her traditional role as wife, and the exciting, Wild West appeal of the trading floor.

When her two worlds suddenly collide, it becomes clear the institutions she once believed in so strongly are more flawed than she ever imagined—and when everything comes crumbling down, it’s up to Alex to decide for herself what’s worthy of putting back together.

Book Review and Tour Giveaway: Son of War, Daughter of Chaos by Janette Rallison

This is great reading entertainment with a conflicted YA love triangle in a different plotline.

Book Description
Publication Date: July 2, 2014
Aislynn is accustomed to watching for the enemy. Her parents instructed her from the time she was young to look for people with the signs: greater than normal strength, eyes that can glow green, and the ability to jump long distances. Over the years, Aislynn has come to view her parents’ fears as quirks—things that get in the way of having a normal high school life.

When Aislynn’s mother dies under suspicious conditions, her father doubles his restrictions. But all his precautions can’t stop the boy with glowing green eyes from finding Aislynn. She realizes too late she’s been drafted into an ancient Egyptian war, whether she’s prepared or not.

Review:
Aislynn’s family has moved often to stay ahead of “the bad guys” she thinks might be hunting her eccentric, relic hunting, father. Aislynn is aware that some of her father’s work may be shady but she has no idea of the full extent of the family secrets until her teenage crush leads to exposure.

Dane is a gorgeous teen who is friends with Aislynn’s older brother, Randolf. Dane knows that he and his kind are the ancient enemies of Aislynn’s father and brother. Dane has a specific goal and has no intention of falling for Aislynn. He tries to avoid her but her beauty, brains and sweet innocence pull his attention.

Aislynn is thrilled when Dane seems interested in her. Her family has warned her to beware of people whose heartbeat is slower and who have green eyes. She thinks they are overprotective until Dane drugs her and she awakens to find him, with glowing green eyes, searching her brother’s room. Aislynn is quick to realize that with love comes betrayal and disillusion.

Aislynn, her father and brother flee in the usual pattern to a safe place in the Arctic. This time the enemy finds them and the camp is attacked by flesh eating scarabs. While struggling to survive and get to another safe home in Boston, Aislynn slowly learns some of her family background including that her mother and father are from different clans so Aislynn might have powers from both warring sides. When she arrives in Boston she learns some shocking news about her brother and new friends that puts her into a moral quandary.

Aislynn is resentful to learn that her father has made arrangements for her to meet and hopefully marry Jack, the young son of the Boston family that gives them refuge. Of course this is just one more thing her father didn’t get around to explaining. It is hard to resist Jack who is handsome, warm, charming, and attentive to a vulnerable girl.

But Dane is still on her trail and it isn’t clear if he wants to kill her or win her over to his side. She doesn’t want to be in a battle where those she loves are trying to kill each other but it doesn’t look like they will let her live a ‘normal’ life. What sacrifices might she make to protect those she loves?

I liked Aislynn’s smart character even though she is woefully naive and has been clearly allowed to fumble along without vital knowledge of her family background. I was impressed with the mythical ties and unique plot built around the clans.  Ms. Rallison uses wonderful detail to keep the history and characters consistent. There is plenty of action that keeps the story moving at a good pace. The writing is brisk and the story reads quickly. I was anxious to keep reading to discover how Aislynn would cope with each new secret and danger she faced.

Excerpt:
An Egyptian tomb is only a good place to die if you happen to be the pharaoh for whom it was built. And maybe not even then. I didn’t intend to room with any of the deceased, which meant the sooner I got out of this place the better.     My flashlight swept over the figures on the mural in front of me. A feeling of danger and expectation clung to everything here, as thick as the dust. On the mural, a warrior with bright green eyes stared back at me. Horusian glowing eyes. I could almost see the smugness in his expression, an expression that said he was coming for me. Or at least his kind were.     Behind me, something creaked. Footsteps.

Janette Rallison is old. Don’t ask how old, because it isn’t polite. Let’s just say she’s older than she’d like to be and leave it at that.

Janette lives in Chandler, Arizona with her husband, five children and enough cats to classify her as “an eccentric cat lady.” She did not do this on purpose. (The cats, that is; she had the children on purpose.) Every single one of the felines showed up on its own and refuses to leave. Not even the family’s fearless little Westie dog can drive them off.

Since Janette has five children and deadlines to write books, she doesn’t have much time left over for hobbies. But since this is the internet and you can’t actually check up to see if anything on this site is true, let’s just say she enjoys dancing, scuba diving, horse back riding and long talks with Orlando Bloom. (Well, I never said he answers back.)

Advance Praise for Warrior's Moon
“What a wonderful tale. Made me get all choked up for a bit. Jaclyn Hawkes has truly done a great thing. Thank you.”
Charlie M. in Georgia
They loved each other desperately.
Never in all the kingdom has there been a more brave and protective champion. Nor such a loyal and capable maiden.
He rescued her the first time when she was three years old in a killing storm. Years later, he was still occasionally rescuing her. 'Twas in him to be a hero, and she had a pure intrepid way of getting into the kinds of scrapes that took rescuing. With such a brawny, masculine guardian around, 'twould have been a fair pity to waste the gallantry anyway.
Their childhood friendship between two young peasants had grown into a devotion few are ever blessed to experience. It was strong enough to withstand all their dark age held—danger, feudalism, disease, and unfair oppression.
Or is it strong enough? They truly loved each other desperately.
They loved their kingdom more.

Review:
Chantaya was only three when her beautiful, pregnant mother, Isabella, and her brave father tried to flee the unwanted attentions of the reprehensible young Lord Rosskeene. Unfortunately the stormy night brings an unfortunate accident with an overturned wagon. Eight year old Peyton Wolfgar and his family rescue Chani and her injured mother. Quickly the family learns to adore the little scamp and Chani finds her champion to worship for life.

The family and village help to shelter Isabella and Chani as the know that things are not right with their overlord. As they grow older an intrepid Chani stumbles upon and makes friends with Mordecai, an old knight living in the woods. Mordecai fills their minds with stirring tales of knightly honor while he trains Peyton to battle and even trains Chani to defend herself. Mordecai offers to introduce Peyton to the King’s court and guardsman so that Peyton can proceed with proper training. Peyton is reluctant to leave his family and his precious Chani behind but he knows he must go to serve the King.

Peyton is well-liked and respected for his diligence and loyalty as well as his prowess in training. Meanwhile at home, Chani matures to young womanhood and begins to catch the eyes of the local young men, including Lord Rosskeene’s son, another lech like his father. Lord Rosskeene discovers their hidden cabin and threatens them into working for him at the manor. While working in the kitchen Chani begins to learn of Rosskeene’s traitorous plans to assassinate the King’s family and become the new king.

Peyton and Chani have grown from childhood friends to the edge of passion in their love for each other. But they each have committed to doing everything they can to protect their King and his family...even if it means sacrificing their own lives and future together.

This is a charmingly written story with a delightful hero and heroine. Their young love is sweet, honorable, devoted and the ‘stuff of legends.’ The clear descriptions pulled me into the settings. The danger and treachery is well laid out to keep the adventure moving forward with good suspense. I enjoyed the underlying faith expressed in the simple assurance and trust that the characters placed in God. The reading flows well and makes this is an entertaining romance good for readers who enjoy strong romance, honor and medieval adventure.

*Evie’s family has been holding out on her …

Big time.

On an unexpected visit to her grandparents’ house in New Hampshire’s secluded North Woods, the sixteen-year-old literally runs into the truth of the long-hidden family secrets, and finds herself thrust without warning into the clandestine world of the Great North Pack—a wild and exhilarating world of rugged beauty, heart-pounding adventures, and long nights running under a sea of stars … but as she’s set to discover, a world also fraught with potential dangers lurking in the shadows.

Praise
"Simply put, this book was amazing. I've read more fantasy novels than I can count, but this one is certainly one of the best. The heroine isn't some wishy-washy pansy that screams at everything, and the focus of the story isn't on some unbelievably beautiful teenage girl who suddenly becomes the biggest, baddest member of her species falling in love with some big, bad, sexy member of her newfound species. It's about a girl becoming something she never knew existed, finding her place within the pack family she values more than ever before, and an age-old feud that threatens everything she loves." ~Morgan

Blog Tour Giveaway Featuring Sanctuary by Pauline Creeden

Sanctuary by Pauline Creeden

“Left Behind for the Hunger Games Generation”
sanctuaryIn a heart-racing thriller described as Falling Skies meets The Walking Dead, Jennie struggles to find a safe place for what’s left of her family. But it seems as though there is no place sacred, no place secure. First the aliens attacked the sun, making it dimmer, weaker, and half what it used to be. Then they attacked the water supply, killing one-third of Earth’s population with a bitter contaminate. And when they unleash a new terror on humankind, the victims will wish for death, but will not find it…When the world shatters to pieces around her, will Jennie find the strength she needs to keep going?

Praise for Sanctuary
“Pauline Creeden managed to mix more genres into one book than I could possibly imagine. The overall concept, aliens attacking the earth, is straight out of Science Fiction, but then you throw in a few zombies and post-apocalyptic fiction with how the dead/sick humans are acting. Overall, the entire story was charged with the adrenaline and thrills of a suspense/thriller novel, but the mood was terrifyingly eerie like a Horror story. There was almost too much sensory information for my primitive human brain to handle. Still, all of these genres combined made for one unique and fascinating story. This kind of book is of the same flavor as The Hunger Games with its originality, which I really appreciated.” - Katelyn Hensel for Readers' Favorite

“Sanctuary is a fast-paced Christian fantasy thriller that is original and quite entertaining. The story revolves around Jennie and her family, Pastor Billy and his wife, and two brothers who are polar opposites of each other. Each chapter is presented in the point of view of Jennie, Brad or Hugh (the brothers), which gives Pauline Creeden's Sanctuary, a multidimensional feel. The three different story-lines merge into a full-fledged fantasy/horror novel that never sags or lets up on the action. While there are Christian themes present in Sanctuary, and Jennie's faith is an important part of who she is, I, a non-Christian, did not feel I was being preached to or proselytized. I recommend Pauline Creeden's Sanctuary -- it's well-written and a lot of fun to read.” – Jack Magnus for Readers Favorite

A NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR:
Why on earth did I write a Christian novel that has both aliens and zombies in it?

When I was a teen/young adult and my faith was wavering at best, there were several movies out with the likely design to shake faith even more. End of the world movies were in their hay day. Alien invasion was another big one. And I couldn’t help but wonder. If something like this actually happened, would anyone be able to maintain their faith?

And now today, Zombies are on the rise.

Could aliens be reconciled with the Bible? Zombies? This is the purpose of Sanctuary.

Because of its poetic nature, the book of Revelation lends itself to a plethora of interpretation. I am not saying that my book is the only true possibility, but it could be one. Could not demons be misinterpreted as alien life forms? Might not Satan use this mirage to his advantage to explain the bitter water or the blotting out of the sun, moon, and stars? And then there’s Revelation 9:6 - "And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them."

Zombies?

If anyone reading this book at least opens themselves up to the fact that yes, a biblical interpretation could resolve the problems between faith and an apocalyptic reality, then Sanctuary has completed its purpose.

EXCERPT:
When Jennie reached the back door, she saw them. Four large dog-like creatures with pinched faces like bulldogs and lion-like manes. They snarled, and one of them leapt at the window on the top half of the door when it saw her. Jennie jumped back and fell hard on the cold tile floor. The bottle of painkiller bounced across the kitchen tiles. The creature slammed against the window a second time, cracking it. She blinked hard. Her heart sunk, and the hairs on her arms stood on end. A horrendous gargling howl rent the air, causing a shiver down her spine. She held her breath and waited for the creature to slam into the door again.

“What on earth?” she whispered to herself.

When the third attempt never came, she scrambled toward the door. Blinking hard, she used the door knob to help herself stand. Out the cracked window, her mother was still out of sight, but the last of the dogs headed across the field behind her backyard.

“MOM?” Jennie called out.

The rumbling faded, and the vibrations in her chest receded with the dogs. She pulled open the door and rushed onto their back deck. “Mom, where are you?”

When she reached the banister, she looked over the side. Her mom lay sprawled with one hand on the lattice. Blood gushed from Mom’s leg and her opposite arm. Jennie’s ears rang and flooded with every beat of her heart.

Jennie didn’t know how she got to the second floor of her house, but she found herself shaking her sleeping father. How had he slept through the rumbling? “Outside, it’s Mom…”

Her father leapt from the bed. Mickey, her little brother, lay asleep and undisturbed. Dad ran down the stairs and outside in his flannel pajama bottoms and white t-shirt. He scooped Mom up to his chest and carried her inside. Blood stained his shirt in crimson.

“Jennie, call 911!” Her father had said it at least three times before it finally registered in her brain.

She pulled the cell phone from her pocket, but it refused to connect. With a groan, she grabbed the cordless from the wall receiver, glad her heart stopped pounding in her head so she could hear.

“All operators are busy at this time,” a mechanical voice deadpanned, “Please stay on the line, and the next available operator will take your call.”

“They have me on hold, Dad. Should I hang up and try again?” She held the phone in both hands away from her face.

“No, just stay on the line.” Her father lifted the shredded jeans from Mom’s leg. “It looks like a shark bite. What on earth happened?”

Jennie took in the damage through tear-filled eyes. A huge chunk was taken from her mother’s calf, exposing the fibrous tendons that covered the bone in her leg. A bloodstain grew on the beige couch. Was she going to die? Panic rose up.

“What happened, Jennie?”

“I...I...They looked like lions, or dogs, or something. The rumbling shook the whole house…I tried to go outside to get Mom, but—” A sob blocked her throat.

Her father grabbed a throw pillow and held it against the leg. Mom’s exposed forearm laid across her chest in much the same condition as her calf.

“Grab me the duct tape.”

Jennie suddenly remembered the phone, put it back to her ear, and headed to the hall closet. She reached for the shelf above the jackets and grabbed the junk basket next to the toolbox.

“Please stay on the line. An operator will be with you shortly.”

She shoved the phone in the crook of her neck and fished through the box. Half the contents dropped around her feet. Who cares? When her fingers wrapped around the silver duct tape, a short-lived relief sent prickles down her arms. But the urgency gripped her chest in less than a heart beat, and she threw the junk basket on the ground with the rest of the items.

“Hurry, Jennie!” her father called from the living room. “And turn on the TV. Maybe they’ll have something about what’s going on.”

She handed her father the tape and turned toward the TV. The mechanical voice on the phone came through again, followed by more easy listening.

When she clicked on the TV, the shouting and wailing began before the picture warmed up on the screen. A sideways picture of New York City broke through, with the shaky voice of the newscaster voicing over.

“What we are watching now – I can’t believe it – is live footage of Times Square,” the newscaster’s voice paused for a deep breath. “We’ve lost our man on the scene and his camera man to what appears to be some kind of new alien creature. Just a short half-hour ago, the doors to the ship that hovered above Central Park opened and these dog-like creatures flooded out.”

Jennie couldn’t pull her eyes from the screen. She straightened and dropped the phone on the hardwood. The battery popped out and skidded across the floor.

Excerpt:
“You’re the sweetest girl in Mourning Dove Creek, you know?” Jack mumbled as he paused in kissing Jilly a moment.

Jilly smiled. “And you’re the handsomest man in Mourning Dove Creek, you know,” she flirted in return.

Jack smiled. “I do know,” he said.

Jilly giggled. Jack Taylor was so predictable—and a little conceited. He really did think he was the handsomest man in Mourning Dove—and he was, for the most part.

Secretly, however, if Jilly ever allowed herself to be completely honest about it (which she tried to avoid), there was one other man in Mourning Dove who always crossed her mind when the subject of the handsomest man in town arose. Yet there was no lingering on thinking of that man—no sirree! Not for a moment! Not for any reason—ever. And so Jilly just kept telling Jack that he was the handsomest man in Mourning Dove Creek. Besides, it was almost true—being that the other man lived outside of town and not right in town the way Jack did.

Review:
Jilly is a young lady of 18 or so who has allowed herself to be charmed by the best looking man in town, Jack. Jack already has a reputation for playing loose with the hearts of the young ladies, but Jilly just doesn’t want to believe it.  Jilly lives with her aging grandparents, who have raised her carefully and are determined to find a way to protect her, even when they pass on.

One afternoon Boone Ramsey approaches Jilly’s grandfather seeking her hand. Boone is a loner who managed to make a success of his family ranch outside of town even after his parents died when he was just barely a teen. Boone has a reputation for being the one to call on for help and rescue. He always comes to the aid of his neighbors and helps out in dangerous situations.

Jilly is upset that her grandfather would promise her hand to Boone when he knows she has her mind set on Jack. Secretly she thinks Boone is really the handsomest man about the area but why would he want her? And if she did accept him would she have to worry as he goes about helpeing and saving everyone else?

Boone has never forgotten the special Christmas gift that Jilly gave him after the death of his parents. He has a tender spot for her and believes that something special can grow between them. Now he just has to convince her to accept what he has to offer out of true affection and not to spite Jack or her grandparents.

I really enjoyed the tender give and take of this old fashioned couple. Boone is a lovely character and willing to help Jilly grow beyond her immature feelings and anger. The writing is interesting as it has a very country aspect, almost hickish. It is suitable for the historical characters that are being portrayed, especially the sheltered, naive Jilly. There is a foundation of good quality in both Jilly and Boone.  I really liked how Ms. McClure displayed how Jilly learned from the strong, quite faith of her grandmother and the loving, tender joy of the relationship between her grandparents. There was a paragraph at the end that was so wonderful I came home and shared it with my own DH.

This is a quick, easy read and a very enjoyable sweet romance. Ms. McClure added some 'snippits' as an afterword that explained the inspiration for the story and some word history that I enjoyed too. This is the first book I have read by this author and I would be glad to read more. If you have not yet tried Ms. McClure's books I recommend this as a fine quick read to try out.

Book Description
Publication Date: August 14, 2013
A Proper, Clean Romance.
Ariella was only looking for a distraction, something to break up the monotony of palace life. What she found was a young man willing to overlook her title and show her a new and vibrant way of life. But when her growing feelings for Gavin spiral out of control and clash with the expectations of her station, she will discover that the consequences of her curiosity are far more severe than she’d imagined.

"I watched in helpless horror as two guards hauled Gavin to his feet and dragged him from the room. My voice was frozen, unable to protest as another guard took hold of my arm, leading me upstairs. From the confines of my room, I stared into the darkness beyond my window, hoping to catch one more glimpse of Gavin. He was gone, and I wondered if he would have been better off if he had never met me."

Review:
Ariella is a princess who longs to be loved for herself...just Ella. No one knows that side of her. She doesn’t even have friends since she can’t mingle with others in her kingdom. She has a special camaraderie with her father, the king, as he shares history and explains political aspects of ruling when she visits in the library in the afternoons.

As she is nearing her sixteenth birthday Ella knows that there will be a big celebration with neighboring nobility coming to the festivities and some thinking about making alliances. One young prince, Jeshua, has shown particular favor towards Ella but she doesn’t like his arrogant, sly attitude that shows more interest in himself than in others.

Ella seeks refuge in a hidden room in the garden maze where she meets a young gardener, Gavin. He recognizes her as nobility by the way she speaks and carries herself. But she introduces herself only as Ella, and a gentle friendship begins before he realizes fully who she is. Ella begins to spend time in the garden, reading to Gavin as he works. Sometimes they chat about life as he tells her about village traditions. Then he even takes her on a surprise exploration, sneaking outside of the palace grounds.

When an excursion outside of the palace results in an attack Ella must explain that Gavin didn’t attack her but rescued her. Now that that her secret friendship is exposed, Gavin is banished, her father is angry and so Ella loses the two she cherished most.

Ella is sad and distraught but finds a way to share her desire to help others. She continues to avoid Jeshua even as he increases his pursuit. Then she is devastated to learn that Gavin has become engaged. But what can she expect? They are of two different worlds and Ella must learn to let him go.

There is danger and intrigue as Ella is kidnapped. She learns the identity of her kidnappers but is afraid that her parents won’t believe her and Gavin will get blamed instead. If there is any chance for Ella to be with Gavin they are going to have to take risks and sort out the misunderstandings that abound.

I liked Ella’s down to earth, caring personality and enjoyed the gentleness of her friendship with protective Gavin. I really appreciated the maturity that Ella learned as she dealt with the pain of lost love and loneliness. I also liked how she sought more than an idle life of royalty and wanted to make life better for the people.

The writing has an easy flow and the story is full of emotional depth. There is a very nice ‘afterward’ where the author explains the inspiration for the story and gives snippets and tidbits about certain characters or scenes. Although I was not enthralled, I would say the story is enchanting and a good read for those who enjoy stories of star crossed love with a happy ending.

Ella realizes a hard lesson:
...Love did not always conquer all.
And so I was left to find a way to conquer love. Heaven help me. Location 2783.

Book Review, Feature and Giveaway Link: Lord Trowbridge’s Angel by G.G. Vandagriff

I found this Regency romance quite charming.

Genre: Historical Romance, Regency
My Rating: 4.25 of 5.0

Book Description
Publication Date: July 18, 2013
The very handsome and very bored Lord Trowbridge knows something is missing in his existence. When he is asked by a friend to escort the seemingly quiet Miss Sophie Edwards to her first ball, he has no idea she possesses the key that will unlock him. It is her secret weapon.

Once he sees his own inner workings, his life unfolds in a different manner. He will do anything to capture the love of his "angel." Unfortunately, his old life and the shibboleths of the ton stand in his way. As he wades through these afflictions, Sophie is courted by another man. Who will she choose? How can he possibly show his love for her in a way as original and unique as she is? What are Sophie's feelings for him?

Review:
Sophia is a beautiful young woman who suffers a limp from a childhood riding accident. She remained in the country enjoying her violin skills rather than seeking the pressures of a London season. She finally comes to London for a come-out ball of a close friend and to visit family. There she meets the very handsome Lord Trowbridge.

Trowbridge is a known rake who is immediately charmed and smitten by Sophia who gives him tit for tat in their initial conversation. After meeting her he breaks off with his shrewish mistress, a married woman with whom he has become bored. He is surprised by the interest he feels for Sophia, his angel, based on their short association. Then he hears her music and it touches his heart and soul. He knows that she can give meaning to his life.

Trowbridge makes some wrong choices that place him at odds with Sophia and land him in a forced engagement to a young woman who is a friend of Sophia’s but has her own interest in Trowbridge. He has to extricate himself from the engagement and from the appearance of reckless, heartless behavior. With misunderstandings surrounding his actions, how can he manage not to hurt the friends reputation and how can he convince Sophia that he is sincere in his intentions and feelings?

Sophia is a charming young lady with strength of character to not be taken in by charm alone but also to allow grace and forgiveness. It was a little surprising that Lord Trowbridge made such a quick and complete turn from a rakish fellow to a fellow of purpose but it is not unthinkable. The descriptions were full so you could picture the setting, the attire and the behaviors. The writing style is gentle and sweet and reminded me very much of Georgette Heyer. This read quickly and I enjoyed the contretemps that occurred and the very sweet romance that succeeded through the obstacles. I would be glad to read more by G.G. Vandagriff.

Sophia’s attitude toward the ton and friends:
“I am content within a small circle of acquaintance. Instead of a breadth of friends, I infinitely prefer a depth of friendship.” Location 225.

Excerpt:
“Are you really so anxious for me to stay in London, then? We have scarcely conversed, my lord!”
Smiling, he brought his head down nearer to her face and whispered, “Has no one ever told you that you have the face of an angel?”
Sophie looked directly into his eyes. “You are very extravagant with your compliments, my lord. I do not know what to say, except that I am no angel.”
Trowbridge raised her chin with his fingers. “I dare you to tell me your vices.”
Looking into the cobalt eyes above her, she consulted her conscience. “I do not suffer fools. I lack patience in general, as a matter of fact. I’m afraid my manner is too abrupt for society. For instance, my lord, I must say I really do not think you should judge by appearances. People with angelic faces can be quite horrid on the inside.” She reminded herself of this fact as she studied his perfectly drawn eyebrows.
At that moment, they were rejoined by Lady Melissa. “Oh, my dearest Sophie! I do so long to have a comfortable coze. You must come for tea tomorrow afternoon. Have you been long in Town?”
“I arrived two days ago. I should be happy to come for tea tomorrow.”
Sophie’s friend turned her attention to Lord Trowbridge. “My lord, how is it you know my friend?”
“I am her brother-in-law’s heir. At least, until he has male offspring,” the viscount said.  “He thought we would suit. We met only this evening, and already Miss Edwards tries to deceive me. She insists she is no angel. What say you?”
Lady Melissa giggled. “An angel? Sophie? She is a very good girl to be sure, my lord. But not an angel by any account!”
“Oh, I am undone,” exclaimed Sophie, holding the back of her hand to her forehead. “All is lost.”
“I will consider her angelic until I have evidence to the contrary,” Lord Trowbridge insisted.

Every day when I sit down at my computer, I enter into a world of my own making. I am in the head of a panoply of characters ranging from a nineteen-year-old Austrian debutante (The Last Waltz) to a raging psychopath (The Arthurian Omen) and four women at once in The Only Way to Paradise. Then there are the feisty heroines of my Regency romances . . .

I am a traditionally published,award-winning, best-selling writer who has recently gone Indie. I enjoy genre-hopping, having published a genealogical mystery series, two women's fiction novels, an historical epic, two suspense novels, five Regency romances, and a couple of non-fiction offerings.
